There are some of us to are unable to make it to the board meeting and don’t think it is fair for us to have to wait for more information on the contract. We would like the nitty gritty of the issues. We deserve it and shouldn’t have to wait!

It would sure be nice to know the details prior to the membership meeting on the 30th.

I have brought up at many meetings and it is listed on my Blog–that Board Meetings should be televised with Kent having all the technology—it can do it or perhaps share KTV21 that the City uses to show their Council Meetings—also i think it would be good to have people have access to public testimony from home via Skype or just write an e-mail and have it read. I will push to have this accomplished.

For those of you who weren’t there, at the school board meeting last night, it was brought up that the meetings could easily be broadcast on television or internet and made available to a broader range of participants. The district has, in fact, done this before when they put up an overflow room and broadcast the proceedings into that room. Not sure if Skype is advisable, but there are lots of possibilities. Now, if we could just make the meetings not go on forever…

I have a gut feeling that the reason that we are not being given the details of this contact is because the union failed to do its job. You probably agreed to keep the meeting times all of the same and you probably told the district that we could work for free instead of making up the 1.9% that the state cut. I want my dues back. This secrecy is in appropriate, this is not a democratic process!
